CORE INTENSIVE: PILATES CERTIFICATION PRE-TRAINING

This 9-day course is a “tasting” menu for the full SSFS Pilates Instructor Certification Course. Included are anatomical essentials for the entire body, client protocol, teaching skills, and rehabilitation. Postural assessment and program design will be discussed. An unparalleled chance for individuals already teaching in the Pilates environment, as well as a necessary prerequisite to our newly formatted Full Apparatus Pilates Instructor Certification Course, if interested in making Pilates a career path.

This is a rare opportunity to train with one of the most renowned and respected Pilates instructors, Cathleen Murakami. Combining her knowledge of Pilates, GYROTONIC®, Tai Chi, Yoga, and traditional fitness, she offers a unique approach to teaching by keeping the whole being in mind. As you experience how to connect your own body, mind and spirit with a greater sense of support and energy, you will understand how, through your enhanced teaching skills, deepen your client’s own personal experience of the power of the Pilates method.

Course Syllabus
  1. INNER UNIT: Repertoire to the essentials of the Inner Unit (true core) and why their proper introduction is mandatory for new clients to understand the HOW and WHY of the Pilates approach.
  2. FOOT & ANKLE: Anatomy and biomechanics of the foot and ankle; the foundation to the skeletal structure and essential for gait mechanics.
  3. KNEE: Anatomy and biomechanics of the knee joint structure that often gets “screwed.” Understand why this joint is at the mercy of the hip joint and foot/ankle relationship.
  4. HIP: Anatomy and biomechanics for the hip joint. Multi directional joint that can be free or frozen. Optimal movement integral for efficient gait mechanics and pelvic/low back freedom.
  5. PELVIS: Anatomy and biomechanics of the pelvis girdle. “Grand Central Station” that navigates the ground forces from below and weight bearing from above. Alignment and positioning crucial for optimal diaphragmatic function.
  6. SPINE: Anatomy and biomechanics of the spinal column. This “multi” joint is responsible for whether your movements are youthful or aging. Joe Pilates once said, “You are as young as your spine.”
  7. SHOULDER GIRDLE: Anatomy and biomechanics of the shoulder complex. Through mobility, stability can be sacrificed – how can the two co-exist compatibly.
  8. ASSESSMENT: Train your eyes to have X ray vision with postural assessment. Learn how to program design effectively by determining what to do with what you see and WHY!
  9. TEACHING SKILLS & REVIEW: Verbiage skills, hands on, imagery and programming. New client protocol. Professional instructor conduct. Intuition and energy.

Course fee:$1,650.00* (Early Bird Special $1,575 if purchased before Feb. 13th)

Testimonials
"I would recommend this for any teacher looking for holistic understanding of the body and how to properly utilize the Pilates method. Cathie’s CORE Intensive is by far the best-structured training available in today's Pilates training market. Her attention to detail is impeccable and her body of knowledge is unmatched. She makes complex material easy and fun to learn for any level. No matter how much about Pilates or anatomy you think you know already, you know little till you have taken Cathie’s CORE Intensive."

“It was a privilege to be a student of Cathie Murakami. As a student in many other Pilates trainings, never before had I been able to grasp all that I learned from Cathie. Struggling with anatomy and biomechanics, Cathie made it understandable and memorable, using descriptions, and visual props, along with hands on. Her dedication to her students and love of Pilates make her an invaluable and powerful teacher. I couldn’t recommend an other teacher, or teacher training course more.”
