As a classical ballet dancer in the Bay Area, Selena attended the City Ballet School where she studied as well as instructed. She toured as a guest lead dancer with the Robert Henry Johnson Dance Company nationally. Selena also choreographed ballets for members of her ballet school.
Upon moving to New York, Selena became the Capezio Pointe shoe foot model and began studying Pilates as a method of cross training to continue her dance career. I felt such a difference in my dancing abilities from my Pilates sessions. I saw significant change in flexibility, core strength, lengthening of muscles, and relief from an ongoing ankle injury, explains Selena.
Four years later, returning to San Francisco, she became certified as a Pilates instructor through the ITT program with Madeline Black. Her own experience has helped her work with severely injured clients looking to find physical relief, to the competitive athlete who use Pilates as an integral part of their health routine. In addition to her ITT training, Selena has completed the Long Beach Dance Advances in Pilates Technique and the SynergySystems Mat certification, both taught by Cathleen Murakami.
Selena's playful, yet disciplined approach makes her a well loved instructor with her loyal client base.
