SAS Workshop:
ALL SAS
(stretch-align-strengthen) certification workshops may be taken
as "stand alone" training for interested
participants NOT on the certification track. SSFS has had
numerous participants who have been
already certified by other organizations
join us to bridge the missing links from their previous
trainings.
INNER UNIT WORKSHOP
January 6, 7 & 8, 2012 1st of 9 Pilates SAS
(stretch-align-strengthen) Weekend Workshops
This is the first of the eight Pilates SAS
(stretch-align-strengthen) weekend workshops to gain an
understanding of the foundation to the Pilates method. The
“Inner Unit” weekend will comprehensively address everything
from the repertoire for introductory through advanced clients,
to the individual components of the Inner Unit
(Diaphragm/Transverse Abdominis/Multifidus/Pelvic Floor), and
why their proper introduction is mandatory for all clients to
understand. This workshop highlights the philosophy, anatomy,
“what defines the core” and the breath which seamlessly ties the

FOOT
& ANKLE WORKSHOP February 3, 4 & 5, 2012 (lab #1
on Friday)
2nd of 9 Pilates SAS (stretch-align-strengthen)
Weekend Workshops
This is the second of the eight Pilates SAS
(stretch-align-strengthen) weekend workshops to gain an
understanding of the foundation to The Pilates Method for the
Foot and Ankle. Comprehensively addressing anatomy and
biomechanics for this important component to correct gait
mechanics. The foundation to the entire body, the foot and ankle
weekend will also include extensive mat & apparatus repertoire
to enhance your understanding.

KNEE
WORKSHOP March 2, 3 & 4, 2012 (lab #2 on Friday) 3rd
of 9 Pilates SAS (stretch-align-strengthen) Weekend Workshops
Understand why the knee joint is at the mercy of the
relationship between the hip and the foot. This is the joint
structure that often literally gets “screwed.” Anatomical
information to reinforce your awareness of how this joint
function will be highlighted. Assessing the knee visually will
be clarified and repertoire for rehabilitation will be included.

HIP
& PELVIS WORKSHOP March 30, 31 & April 1, 2012

Workshops
The Hip is a multi directional joint that can be free or
frozen. Optimal movement is integral for efficient gait
mechanics. The Pelvis is the “Grand Central Station” that
navigates the ground forces from below and weight bearing from
above. Pelvis positioning affects the lower spine and hip joint
directly. Understand how to address deviations in this often mis-aligned
area through traditional and therapeutic exercises.

SPINE WORKSHOP
April 20, 21 & 22 2012 (lab #4 on Friday)

Weekend Workshops
This 24 joint structure is responsible for whether your
movements are youthful or aging. Joe Pilates once said, “You are
as young as your spine.” Clear anatomical and biomechanical
illustration of what your spine is comprised of and how it
should function is revealed. Common injuries and how to address
them will also be a part of this weekend. Click

SHOULDER
GIRDLE WORKSHOP May 18, 19 & 20, 2012 (lab #5 on
Friday)

Workshops
Through mobility, stability can be sacrificed – how can the
two coexist compatibly. Understand how head and neck placement
can contribute to shoulder issues. Utilizing equipment and
non-equipment repertoire, healthy movement patterning is

POSTURAL
ASSESSMENT WORKSHOP June 8, 9 & 10,
2012 (lab #6 on Friday)

Workshops
Train your eyes to have X ray vision with postural
assessment. Recognize how to have local and global eyesight.
Learn to program design effectively by determining what to do
with what you see and WHY! Efficient programming for common
postural missalignments will be discussed.

BUSINESS
TEACHING SKILLS WORKSHOPS Part 1: June 29, 30 & July

Weekend Workshops
You will learn how to master your verbiage skills, hands on
adjustments, imagery and programming progressions, new client
protocol, professional instructor conduct and remain connected
to your intuition and energy. Showing up and teaching is a
foundational skill – but do you have what it takes to not only
start, but also maintain and generate a continual growth in your
client base? Role-playing practicals will be a part of this

Cadillac Workshop:
A two day comprehensive Cadillac workshop covering much of
the material which will be required by the Pilates Method
Alliance for national certification.
The Murakami Method Cadillac workshop will show you ways to utilize the Cadillac in
ways you would never have thought possible. As always, the
essential information to breath patterns, hands on and verbal
cueing, variations, and modifications will be included.
Many innovative ideas on classic exercises will stimulate
your own creativity. Experience will be helpful, but not
required.
Handout manual of choreography notes will be provided.

Wunda Chair Workshop:
A
two day comprehensive Wunda Chair workshop covering much of the material
which will be required by the Pilates Method Alliance for national
certification.
Originally, the Wunda Chair was designed
for usage in small New York apartments. Learn how this
versatile piece of equipment is ideal for the pregnant client,
but also exceptionally versartile to adapt to your senior and
athletic populations as well. Course will cover breath patterns,
hands on and verbal cueing, variations, and modifications. Wunda
Chair experience will be helpful, but not required.
Handout manual of choreography notes will be
provided.
